I begin each morning connecting with "I Am." Have learned to ignore the material me and seek the spiritual me. The material me seeks recognition for accomplishments, the real me seeks to place that darkness behind me. The real me occupies this vehicle others know as Larry. I've been meditating on "The Gnostic Gospel Of St. Thomas" as expounded on by Tau Malachi. If you seek your inner self, you may just find it in Malachi's direction there.
May peace be with you.

Anand and Satish are correct. There is a stage of meditation where "self isolation" which allows one to enter into "supernal consciousness" is the objective. Temporary periods of "illumination" can happen, though, on the contemplation, during meditation, of an object. "consider the lillies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all of his glory was not clothed like one of these." "But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you." (St. Matthew 6:6, 6:28-29)

In truth, I achieve periods of "tempory Illumination" when I focus on a subject, during study, and the part of me, "within," that is "connected" can reach "the source," and a higher level of understanding, that "temporary illumination,"pours out," which only stops when I stop it, by entering back into real time.

If you've acheived that moment you'll have an "ear to hear.' If you have experienced such moments of "bliss" but lost your way, or have never experienced such "bliss" I'd recommend a study of the meditations on the mystical teachings of Tau Malachi in his Book, "The Gnostic Gospel of St. Thomas." I can promise, if you have an "ear-to-hear," by following his instruction, you will experience a "pearl of great price." I was prompted to share this with you during one of those times I speak of, and these insights are his, and the "Fathers." I have not met Tau Malachi, but I consider myself a follower of him, on my personal path."

Meditation can help in solving problems we encounter in the course of daily living. I like to sit in a relaxed state......taking seven, slow, deep breaths, exhaling slowly...each time. Breathing through the nose, exhaling through the mouth.
I then think through the problem....carefully touching on all points of the problem....this I call presenting the problem.
Next....Begin to enter the silence with the question.....How can I solve this problem.
While in the silence listen to the inner voice.....quietly.....softly......relax.......expecting an answer.........
Your answer may not come at once.....but you have presented the problem.........and this is received as a command.........but may not come to you in your time frame.
Always remain receptive to what is being said to you......If I do this.....If I do that.....will it the direction.........of the outcome..........
Your dream state may be the avenue that the direction comes....always be receptive to these directions come to you.......accept that the directions may require action on your part to get closer to your outcome.
Remember that are connected to the perfect mind.....and as an imperfect instrument....we must submit to that direction.........and.....utilizing the information coming to us in that still small be co-creator of the solution.
As co-creator, things will come into our lives, that when pondering afterwards
may seem miraculous......and the more these miracles happen in our lives.....the more we will realize how natural they actually are.

May you co-create your own life in peace and abundance,
So Mote It Be.
