IA. Rep. Mike May
Thank you for your time. I have send the following letter to everyone I know and asked them to follow suit. I and many Americans are screaming for change. We have spoken in one voice for improvements and none in Washington seem to WANT to hear us because nothing is changing for the better. I'd invite you to continue reading my letter I have written to our American Congress and Pres. Obama.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Congress and President Obama
Here is the email I received today, Sept. 23, 2009.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The McCarran-Ferguson Act of 1945 exempts health insurance companies from the antitrust regulations that apply to nearly every other industry, rules that protect consumers from anti-competitive business practices like price-fixing.
Passing health care reform with an effective public option is one key way to promote competition in the health insurance marketplace, but we must also eliminate this unjustified and unnecessary antitrust exemption currently enjoyed by insurance giants.
That's why I urge you to support the Health Insurance Industry Antitrust Enforcement Act, S. 1681 and H.R. 3596.
This legislation, which has been introduced by Sen. Patrick Leahy in the Senate and Rep. John Conyers in the House, will eliminate the outdated insurance industry antitrust exemption, and force health insurance companies to compete fairly -- like virtually every other business in America.
Thank you for supporting S. 1681 and H.R. 3596.

My Response to Email:
Dear Congress and Mr. President Barrack Obama,
I have read the above statement from Sen. Patrick Leahy and Rep. John Conyers and I agree that there needs to be health care reform. I feel that if a health insurance company cannot cover their client's health needs, they should not be in business at all.
I also feel that the poor and middle class cannot afford the premiums and co-pays their health insurance companies expect their clients to pay, as it is currently. First of all, I'd invite you to take a very close look at household income levels. For example: If a person makes approximately $540 per month and that person has $450 month rent which is the lowest cost of rent in some of the Midwest states and $35 electricity, not including garbage. That person cannot afford the expected rate of $100 or more per month for health insurance. How is that person going to eat? After that person's bills, he/she will only have $55 to his/her name. With the high cost in food, $55 will only last that person one week of food. How is that person capable of paying car insurance, let alone health insurance? They can't! Yet, we know they need those things.
CONGRESS and PRESIDENT OBAMA, your increase tax decisions and your allowance of the World Banking Head Families who are lobbying/buying out our government so they can manipulate laws and decisions to keep on raping our nation in order for these World Banking Head Families to become filthy rich are at fault for this.
Shame on you for your heartlessness those of you Politicians who are accepting these bribes! Apparently, these bankers are also banking with our income tax money, etc. Look closely also at the Federal Reserve, an entity that isn't even a part of America, and when America asks for a loan it is on interest which can basically never be paid off. The American citizens do not have the money, yet you expect them to pay off these loans. You expect us to pay for the Stimulus package. You expect us to pay for your new health care reform expenses. You expect us to pay your paycheck. Because you have accepted bribes and threats from the World Banking Head Families who are taking all the money, we (the American citizens/taxpayers) don't have any money left to stimulate the economy anymore. If this keeps up, America will become a cashless society or a society where the dollar is worthless; which is basically the same thing as being a cashless society. Which also means that you will be out of a job. And how will you survive then if American money is worthless. If you should change the currency, the other countries will expect you to come up with money you don't have, then how would you pay your expenses?! Hm..
You either forget or deliberately don't care who it was that voted you into office, in the first place. You also have forgotten that if it hadn't been for the American citizens/taxpayers, there would be no money in banks anywhere AND there would be no money in the stock market nor would there be any systems of government nor royalty nor dictators. That means, there will be no more YOU meaning you would be out of a job.
So, wake up and realize the choices you are making is destroying your livelihood and mine.
My income has not increased. Yet the property tax, water/sewer, electricity, car insurance, health insurance rates have increased. I yearn to be a MOM, but these tax increases have got to STOP because it is preventing my husband and I from financially being able to conceive and raise a baby. Jim and I have been trying for a baby for three years. THREE YEARS!!! (Because my husband is over the age of 45, the law states that we cannot adopt a baby nor can we start to become foster parents.) My husband and I need the help of a microsurgeon in order to conceive our baby.
My goodness there are taxes for everything: water/sewer taxes, tax on material goods, tax on food, tariffs, tax on imports and exports, propane tax, school tax, Accounts Receivable Tax, Building Permit Tax, Capital Gains Tax, CDL License Tax, Cigarette Tax, Corporate Income Tax, Court Fines (indirect taxes), Dog License Tax, Federal Income Tax, Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA), Fishing License Tax, Food License Tax, Fuel Permit Tax, Gasoline Tax (42 cents per gallon), Hunting License Tax, Inheritance Tax, Interest Expense (tax on the money), Inventory Tax I, RS Interest Charges (tax on top of tax), IRS Penalties (tax on top of tax), Liquor Tax, Local Income Tax, Luxury Taxes, Marriage License Tax, Medicare Tax, Property Tax, Real Estate Tax, Recreational Vehicle Tax, Road Toll Booth Taxes, Road Usage Taxes (truckers), Sales Taxes, School Tax, Septic Permit Tax, Service Charge Taxes, Social Security Tax, State Income Tax, State Unemployment Tax (SUTA), Telephone Federal Excise Tax, Telephone Federal, State and Local Surcharge Taxes, Telephone Federal Universal Service Fee Tax, Telephone Minimum Usage Surcharge Tax, Telephone Recurring and Nonrecurring Charges Tax, Telephone State and Local Tax, Telephone Usage Charge Tax, Toll Bridge Taxes Toll, Tunnel Taxes, Trailer Registration, Tax Utility Taxes, Vehicle License Registration Tax, Vehicle Sales Tax, Watercraft Registration Tax, Well Permit Tax, Workers’ Compensation Tax, etc.
Good grief! The next thing you will come up with will be to start charging people 50 cents to use the toilet at public rest stops. My point being, you can clearly see the ridiculousness of all these taxes.
I was told that not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago and our nation was the most prosperous in the world, had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world and only one parent had to work to support the family.
It is no wonder why we have more people who are poor than we ever did and it is no wonder why these people cannot afford health insurance or even vehicle insurance. And it is no wonder that we have more people who are sick than ever before because these people cannot afford good nutritious foods. These people can barely afford the cheap refined and processed boxed and canned goods. And it is no wonder that there are more diseases than cures. It is no wonder that America is in the economic hardship that it is in. You may feel that the economic situation will improve based upon media reports. However, it will only improve for a little bit and then it will take a serious dump. One in which may take us 7 years or more to get out of.
Only together can we make this economic situation better. But first it needs to start with YOU (Congress and President Obama). Get rid of the greed. Start over to create laws more geared to be more humanitarian by starting to give a damn about your fellow mankind and fellow womankind to make sure they don't go without, so that you don't go without. Let's look after each other to make sure no one goes without. Stop over spending and start living within your budget.
If you do not know how to do this, call me (712) 832-9666! We will crunch numbers together and I will show you how it is done. To start know that the current tax code violates the principle of equality. Special rates for special circumstances violate the original Constitution and are unfair. Two, let there be local control within each community, let those communities decide how much money should be paid in taxes and how much should be spend in their community to fix their roadways and pretty up, have cleaner drinking water (etc.) in their community because that is important to every community.
The health care reform bill from what I can see, has alot of loop holes for the World Banking Head Families, the FDA, AMA, and medical staff to become more richer while American citizens become more poorer. Let me help you re-write the health care reform bill. Right now, you are all bickering amongst yourselves not able to get anything done, currently. Hire me and let me do the research needed to find a solution that would benefit the commonweal. There would be travel involved because I would need to travel and hold town meetings in order to hear the needs of the people. I pretty much know what the overall needs are, but it is different in each state, let alone community. If I owned a 36 foot minimum working motor home with all amenities including washer and dryer, it would cut down on motel and food costs drastically. Plus, I have a computer, but not a cellphone capacity to make all those long distance conference phone calls needed while on the road while traveling to these different communities.
What we can do together can create greatness. A stronger than ever United American Nation. A nation set on BEING humanitarians to make sure none go without. We look out for each other here in America and when we as a whole are strong again, we can be a big brother. If your greed is more important than the needs of the people, you have no business being in office!
Prove to the American people that I am wrong that you are not greed heads. Prove to the American people that you give a damn about them more than filling your pockets with money from Corporations like the World Banking Head Families, Pharmaceutical companies, AMA, FDA, etc. Recently I found out that my letter has reached overseas. That is a lot of people! Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Michelle Colet
Dear American citizen,
Michelle: You have read my letter and are you in agreement with me? American citizens:YES! Hell yes!
Michelle: Please don't swear. An American citizen from TX: Sorry. We can no longer allow insurance companies to act unethically when our fellow countrymen's lives and livelihoods are at stake. Our government can act as the pooler of resources and distribute those resources more ethically than these shady insurance profiteers, and do so without reaping exorbitant insurance exec. profits. About 650,000 people are ruined -- 62% of bankruptcies -- ruined financially due to medical bill last year in this country while CEO Shephen J. Hemsley of UnitedHealth Group made $15,549,028 last year. Are there really a large number of Americans with lower-incomes dying due to lack of affordable care? If so, where does that leave us, and where are we going as a nation? I don't like that fact that they want to include religion in politics. Tom Prichard wrote, "God has created government to do certain things. When we reject His design for government, in a sense, we're rejecting Him.” It is this kind of thinking that has us in wars and has us in a healthcare crises . It is the preachers that are the first to send the kids to war . It is the preachers that never suffer . It is the preachers that tell the followers to have faith in god while they have faith in money . They love to take your money and tell you to have faith . God has taken a few steps back . The ball is in our court . God has given an answer . The answer is, “You broke it now you fix it.” We can fix it . We need to start by thinking for ourselves and get the preacher and religion out of the way. God and his people have been around long enough to stop all the problems we have. Like the republicans and democrats they don't fix anything . They just preach and take your money .
Michelle: LOL... You make some very strong, true yet can't help hilarious comments/points. You asked a very good question earlier, where our nation is headed. Basically, We've become a country whose citizens have no say in the decisions that are made into laws. That is what I feel we have become.
Little star: Legislation should be written logically. I think it is important to keep the legislature "religion free" and for us as Americans to resist the temptation to legislate morality based on Religious doctrine. I don't mind it though if legislation is written logically in such a way where the majority of American people are in agreement in the decision that is made.
Michelle: I agree with you Little star, I would love to be included in the decisions that are made instead of left out.
DonKeyBaums: I also do not care if the bill that will determine my ability to provide security for me & my family in the light of our health & treatment options as well as future generations to come is slowed down to get it right. I'd rather have what is working than take a leap of faith on legislation I'm not allowed to review. Since all the others we've not been allowed to view have benefited special interest groups & earmarked giant businesses. GE, GM, Chrysler, the banks, the insurance companies, etc. Why won't the politicians that are vomitting up rhetoric to make private health insurance companies the new holocaust enablers, why won't these politicians that CARE SO much that they're revamping our whole system, why won't they adhere to the plan? Why are they keeping their "evil" private insurers on their "evil" private insurance plans? If its good enough for me, my children, my parents & America's current & future people, it ought to be good enough for them too! Don't you think? Be logical.
Michelle: Wow! I don't think they will. Obama said he wouldn't.
TX: Obama promised us he'd cut government spending & in 6 months he quadrupled the debt that Bush sunk us into. He promised transparency & has rushed two gigantic bills through without letting us see anything or even requiring politicians to read the bills they voted into law. He promised 5 days of public viewing of the proposed health care bill before voting on it and now Congress won't even grant us 24 hours to read a multi-thousand paged bill. How is that transparent? How is that change? Its crap. Moreover, I voted for Obama. I'm a Democrat and if you really want to get personal, I'm a black man. I believed in the "change" too, I believed that the little guys like me in the lower to middle income range that work hard and pay our taxes would be represented and that goverment expansion and overbearingness like Bush did would be stopped like Obama said. Since he's been in office, he's bailed out giant corporations and provided the way for more giant corporations and he did it with our money. That irks me!
Michelle: TX, don't get out your guns any time soon. You don't want military police to come knocking down your door sticking a gun to your head. You wouldn't make it. There would be more of them, then you.
TX: Hey, we've been putting up with this bullshit for too long. It may come to that. Americans vs our own Government.
Michelle: I hope not. I hope we can find a solution so it doesn't have to come to that.
Brandi: None of you left wing nuts have any right to tell ME that I need HC!!! So, butt the hell out!! This is no different than you having the right to choose what make, model or color that you want in a car! This is MY car to choose!!! So KISS OFF!!!!!You want this crap for yourself then by all means, have at it. Leave me and the rest of us out of it!!! HOW DARE YOU!!!! Why is it that you left wing goobers feel that we need to cover the entire country? There is only around 30 million that need the help? Trying to force everyone else into this peace of crap HC is about asinine!!! I like how people attach BS to the American people when the whole time they should be looking at the idiots that run the country!
TX: Right on!
Andilox: dumb ass. You will see shortly as they proclaim a large number of American citizens to be terrorists and lock them up indefinitely!
Muttin: The good old days are gone, the good old days and not likely to return. Keeping this Health System, is not an option, you don't have the money to KEEP this system, so you HAVE to give it up.
Berkeley: It's interesting how the Republicans and Democrats are okay with spending TRILLIONS of taxpayer dollars to blow each up over in Iraq, but when it comes to health care for every American, they go nuts about how much it will cost.
Noformstyle: KILL THE BILL, I work for healthcare industry, we provide good services. We are talking about your lives here, even if you pay 50% of earning to us is reasonable. Your lives are more important...Couple thousands of dollars/month to save your family is not that much!!!
Michelle: Are you for real? Poor and middle class people cannot afford a couple thousands of dollars per month. The poor can barely afford $95 per month. They have to juggle between their health care and food.
TimHaus: Noformstyle, of course you support FOR PROFIT health care, you're probably one of the benificiaries of a system the MAJORITY of americans do not want.
NewMoon51: To begin with, healthcare reform would never have been an issue if the healthcare industry hadn't put profits in place of (not even in front of, but in place of) people. Remember the girl who needed a liver transplant and didn't get approved until she died? She died. You know, dead. As in game over and thanks for playing (and losing) our game. I'm not a fan of big Gov, but it's interesting to me that anything that is privatized whether it's automobiles or healthcare ends up killing the buyer.
Bigvi: We already are. We can be scammed by the government or by a handful of CEOs. Heed your own words. Arm yourself with knowledge, because youve already been taken advantage of.
Kennyreubins: we do not need to have goobers making a profit on suffering
Christy: the single payer national health insurance bill in Congress (John Conyers - Michigan). All other industrialized countries have universal national health care. Their medical costs are far less than ours are in the United States but their health outcomes are as good or better.
Americans have seen their health insurance premiums increase by 87% from 2000 to 2006 while their earnings only increased by 20% and the average rate of overall inflation was 18% during the same time period (Kaiser Family Foundation).
Why does your health care cost so much?
Data from the Institute for Health and Socio-Economic Policy show that:
1. The top seven U.S. health insurers earned a combined $10 billion dollars - nearly triple their profits of 5 years earlier (Wall Street Journal, August 2006).
2. In 2004 top executives of the 11 largest health insurers made a combined $85 million per year in one year (Weiss Reports).
3. The 20 largest HMOs in the U.S. made $10.8 billion in profits in the fiscal year 2005. 12 top HMO executives pocketed $222.6 million in direct compensation in the fiscal year 2005.
4. Dr. William McGuire, CEO of UnitedHealthcare had $1.6 billion in exercisable options at the end of 2005 (CBN News, Oct. 16, 2006) in addition to his salary.
30%-35% of each dollar of your premium goes to pay for: executive salaries, administration, lobbying, marketing and other non-health care related costs.
It's time for privately delivered health care with public funding - like our Fire Departments and Police. It's time for HR 676.
Hellosally: All I know is it is about time something is done about our healthcare system. We cannot afford to wait any longer. Change needs to happen now! My wife and I have been on a state subsidized basic health insurance where we pay monthly premiums for "basic" health care. We have paid as much as $178 a month for thetwo of us and we are paying $106 a month now but have been told it will rise in the next year rather than the state drop people from the roles. It needs to change NOW!
Lisateiler: What a bunch of BS. Our medicare system SUCKS! I know plenty of people on it and they HATE IT. Plus they have some new initials for treatment BED OR DNR? Ever heard of them? Benefits Ended Death OR Do Not Resucitate. There will be more of those out with a National Healthcare Reform crap. We do not want IT GET RID OF THE IDEA!!!
MotLChamp: There is not 47 million AMERICANS without coverage. That is the lie the government is telling you. The numbers are more like this.
10 million of that 47 mil. are illegal aliens. Another 10 mil are non-americans that live here. Now were down to 27 mil. There are about 13 mil americans that make over $50,000 a year, that can afford insurance, but chose not to get it. That leaves about 14 mil. Do we really need to shit-can our whole system for this, and let the government take over?
Bigpoz: I'm in agreement with TX. I love my country America the great.... I hate what's been done to my country, it's been turned into a country based on corporate greed. Our health care system on benefits the Insurance companies that make all the money... Even if you have very good (you think) insurance after many years of paying it and 1 day you need to use it guess what, out of luck if you need something serious.... Let's take country back....
Slash: You going to just start paying all your costs out of pocket instead of buying insurance? It's a good deal if you are healthy and lucky but one heart attack or a nasty fall where you end up with a broken bone and those insurance payments are going to look like peanuts
Timuit: Time to call/ write/ email all our Senators to stop their vote on this. United States Senate - (202) 224-3121 Let's put the pressure on AND KEEP IT ON and not stop until they vote this one down!
Michelle: Timuit, My husband and I have written several letters to our state Representatives and Senators, none have done a darn thing for us. Their answer was, our government wants to do this...
StrtTalkNow: This is industry produced propaganda!!!! 3% profit my butt.
angelsoft: they will do anything to squeeze more money out of you. its just a game to them.
