We people don't care about tomorrow, we don't care whats going to happen after 100 yrs, and in every warning given to us about G.W (Global Warming) by everyone around the planet says that if we don't start taking initiative to protect the world today it will affect us tomorrow. But the tomorrow will come after 100 yrs?? who among us or of this generation will be there after 100 yrs... to see what is going to happen at that point of time.
So, my advice to all the authorities and to all the people around the world who warns us about GW would be that if you want to awake this generation don't show whats going to happen after 50-60 yrs show us whats going to within 50-60 yrs.

Continuation of the above article......

Another interesting fact is that even though man made CO2 has exponentially increasing from 1950 to today, temperature from 1940 to 1980 decreased. Scientists back in the 1970s believed that pollution was causing global cooling. The real problem is that any model based off a lower point, like 1880s temperature, would make the model appear that the earth is on fire. Instead of using incomplete models, models need to include a couple of temperature cycles to fully understand how the Earth behaves.

At least 70-80% of the Earth’s warming effect comes from water vapor and clouds not CO2. CO2 traps about 10-20% of the world’s heat. Other contributors to warming include high altitude cirrus clouds and sunspots. Cirrus clouds block radiant heat from escaping the Earth’s atmosphere. Sunspots have been known throughout history to have an effect on the Earth’s temperature. From 1645 to 1715 there were very few sunspots recorded. This also was a period referred to as the little ice age. Over the last 60 years, our sun has been very active with a record number of sun spots recorded. This could also be the reason that ice caps on Mars are melting and other planets in our solar system are experiencing warming, like Jupiter.

By studying models that are more inclusive, scientists are now worried about the warming trend reversing. The Antarctic Ice Sheet is growing at a record pace. The media seems to focus on just the Wilkins ice sheet, which is only 0.01% of Antarctica’s ice cover. The rest of the ice cover is returning 60% faster than last year at 4.0 square km. Even Greenland is seeing a 15 year high in ice levels between Canada and itself. In the US this spring has been much cooler than normal for most of the country. These events are leading more and more scientists to believe the Earth is in for a cooling trend. If global cooling occurs, agricultural life could change as we know it. This could lead to a worldwide food shortage and a displacement of millions of people.

Currently, the United States Congress is debating a potential five trillion dollar energy policy. This policy will place carbon caps on corporations. This will raise cost of energy significantly. Money raised from these caps would be redistributed to more expensive renewable energy projects. The poor will suffer the most as they will have to contend with rising food prices, rising gas prices and now rising energy costs. With so many factors causing global warming, the anti- CO2 movement seems very reckless and will cause many people to suffer.

Fighting emissions from cars and factories is a very noble cause. Pollution can cause all sorts of problems like asthma. To say the world is warming because of humans is a very bold claim. Lots of factors go into warming the Earth. To focus on just one, CO2 is very naïve. It can also be very dangerous as it sacrifices our economic stability and standard of living. Doubling the price of gasoline over the last few years has caused food costs to shoot up; fishermen and truckers to be put out of business; and many low income people to suffer. Now, Congress is debating to do the same thing to electricity prices.

Using the 1880's for a stating date for warming trend is out right deception due the volcanic eruptions in 1783, 1815 and Krakatoa in 1883 all caused major global cooling for year over 100 years.

The one in 1815 caused the "year with out a summer" causing a world wide crop failure one year and poor crop for 6 or 7 more.

In the 125 years since Krakatoa erupted in 1883 we have had one eruption in 1991 of Mount Pinatubo that caused a slight cooling for 3 years.

So for the last 125 years one of natures major climate cooling tools has be all but turned off with only one very small volcanic event compared to the average 1 volcanic event every 50 years that cool the earth for 5 to 15 years. At the same time the Sun Spots believed to be one of natures major climate heating mechanisms have been at historic highs for the last 75 years of the 400 years of records.

While I have no doubt man causes some global warming I know the natural conditions have been very good for warming as well. The first graph shown in the previous post clearly shows the dip in the temperature in 1991. Had we had 1 or 2 volcanic events the size of the ones from 1600 to 1883 we wouldn't be having this discussion.

In addition to this observation, it was determined that humanity and Geology is not the cause of our problem. The Greatest effect of global warming greenhouse gases are water vapor, nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide. These fossil fuels and by the human race burning more and more it contributes to the greenhouse effect.

Global Warming Kills the Animals

Species Disappear
The latest report from the World Conservation Union says that a minimum of 40 percent of the world’s species are being threatened ... and global warming’s one of the main culprits.

Cannibalistic Polar Bears...
As longer seasons without ice keep polar bears away from food, they start eating each other. [AP]

...And Dying Polar Bears
A recent study completed by the U.S. Geological Survey shows that cannibalism—while brutal—may be the least of the bear’s problems. Many are also drowning, unable to swim in the increased spaces between melting sea ice. Two-thirds of them may be gone by 2050.

Death March of the Penguins
Scientists blame global warming for the declining penguin population, as warmer waters and smaller ice floes force the birds to travel further to find food. “Emperor penguins ... have dropped from 300 breeding pairs to just nine in the western Antarctic Peninsula.”

Global Warming Wrecks All the Fun

Say Goodbye to French Wines

Wacky temperatures and rain cycles brought on by global warming are threatening something very important: Wine. Scientists believe global warming will “shift viticultural regions toward the poles, cooler coastal zones and higher elevations.” What that means in regular language: Get ready to say bye-bye to French Bordeaux and hello to British champagne.

Say Goodbye to Light and Dry Wines

Warmer temperatures mean grapes in California and France develop their sugars too quickly, well before their other flavors. As a result, growers are forced to either a) leave the grapes on the vines longer, which dramatically raises the alcoholic content of the fruit or b) pick the grapes too soon and make overly sweet wine that tastes like jam.

Say Goodbye to Pinot Noir

The reason you adore pinot noir is that it comes from a notoriously temperamental thin-skinned grape that thrives in cool climates. Warmer temperatures are already damaging the pinots from Oregon, “baking away” the grape’s berry flavors.

One thing we do have to remember is that the earth is very heavily populated now which means that with every breath we take we expell CO2 and are we responsible for planting enough trees to conver the CO2 emission for each life we create. We don't mind cutting down trees to build our houses for people that populate the earth but there is a direct coorelation to increase in population to CO2 Emmissions . CO2 emmisions went up as the earth populated in the 20s to 40s and we had a baby boom in the 60's. Emmissions controlls went into place in the late 60's so. When the 3,500 active volcano's belch each time only 1 puts enough emissions to make up for all we could produce in 1OO years. Mount St Helen created a cooling effect.
Right now the Scientist are morn concerned about global cooling than global warming.
If things get cold everything dies.
We are going through another cycle and the news media and the Political arena likes to exploit everything. We area here, we should do the right things like design out pollution, reduce waste, ellimination manufacturiing and consumption landfills and utilize natural energy such and ocean waves, solar, geothermal and water power and harness the water energy atoms.
We are becoming politically more stupid each day and more greedy. We do not teach we preach. Children are spoiled way beyond their compacity to understand what the outcome will be.
Conservation is now a joke. The other world countries look at us in our glutonous ways and we are telling them how to do things ...that is hypocrisy at its best.
Have a wonderful day. There are few Americans that have gone a week with out food.
Most countries that are poor, that is an experience they expect to happen.
Malnourishment and thin with a bloated belly is one thing but to be Obese and have diabetic at age 10 from fast food is a tragedy.

Hey Silvershaman, I don't know what is going to happen....... I mean first GLOBAL WARMING and now GLOBAL COOLING it seems that we are near to an end. I mean practically, I think there would be around 5-10% of the population who are even thinking to take measures against GW and GC. But what about the other part of the population. I think this have just gone out of control now. We can just pray to god that only he can do some magic and save the world.

I think the earth always and cycles in that the wabbles of the spinning and the rotations of the earth speed up and slow down and the content of solid matter in the atmosphere and our magnetic force field around the earth protects us for with our the that and our gravitation field or pull we would not be able to exist at all.
I feel to put it in to goo perspective that no human has enough data to give a good educated guess that which will happen. However; we are intellegent enough to know that it is not good to drink polluted water, or spoiled food and air that has poisionous gases in it. But we are will to trash our Environment and expect good results. WE exploded Air tests of dirty Nuclear Bombs in Arizona in the 30's and let the winds blow strontium 90 and unranium an plutonium all around the southeastern USA and wonder why everyone has lung cancer or some other form of cancer.. DUH. We put lead in our gasoline and wondered why so many birth defects occured during the 50's and 60's. it is because we were breathing it in our lungs and pregnant mothers were breathing polluted air.
We put lead in paint and used it in our homes. All types of chemicals were released in to the atmosphere to make products that had carcinogens which were made in factorys in towns where people live. They don't want to cure cancer they want to treat it because it makes more money. The war was created to make money for those in the arms business and taking money for the ones who wanted certain money and controls put in place. No one in Irag was raising hell about Sadam if they were that up set they could have took him out in 1 day. They take out as many US soldiers a day as they want. IT is a World Order that plays games Economically and Political Protocal is the the little mind game every one has bought into to feel that they had a say. It is all hype . these officials around the world do what they like any time they want. I would suspect an accidental Nuclear contastrophe would do us more harm than any thing else righ now because I am not sure which stupid idiot is in control.

Hi Vishal !

One can feel your anguish !! Global Warming is supposed to have devastating effects in about 50-60 years; but tell tale signs are already visible, like climatic extreams ! In some circles it is still debated if global warming is for real !

the real issue is not whether we should go on damaging the environement till it retaliates, the real issue is should be go on 'exploiting' natural resources in an unplanned short sighted way. strange as it may sound, but we need to look at the profits made by companies, there is an optimum level above which profits indicate unnecessary burdening of environment. mankind's obsession with profits and share market would have to be reexamined if we are to get into sustainable development.

And don't worry about the planet, global warming or not, the planet will survive, at stake is existance of humanity and the civilisation we know of.

In a way corruption, greed, global warming are all related. till whole of mankind turns more spiritual, mere legislations may not be enough !
