We people don't care about tomorrow, we don't care whats going to happen after 100 yrs, and in every warning given to us about G.W (Global Warming) by everyone around the planet says that if we don't start taking initiative to protect the world today it will affect us tomorrow. But the tomorrow will come after 100 yrs?? who among us or of this generation will be there after 100 yrs... to see what is going to happen at that point of time.
So, my advice to all the authorities and to all the people around the world who warns us about GW would be that if you want to awake this generation don't show whats going to happen after 50-60 yrs show us whats going to within 50-60 yrs.

Hey Aditya, thanks for sharing your thoughts on such an important issue. I agree with what ever you say.... I mean at the end of the its these big corporates who are spoiling our environment.... Then why the normal people are made aware about the GLOBAL WARMING I don't think that an individual or normal people do any thing which can affect the environment. I think the government should take some strict action against these corporates who don't think about the atmosphere or environment and just look to make profit at any cost. But on the other hand government them self are involved in this with the corporates for the sake of tax , ******, #%#%#& etc. I think you understand what I mean to say. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Aditya keep writing.

‘Global warming linked to terrorism’
Washington, June 26, 2008

Global warming probably will mean more illegal immigration and humanitarian disasters, undermining shaky governments and possibly expanding the terrorism threat against the US, intelligence agencies say.

“Logic suggests the conditions exacerbated (by climate change) would increase the pool of potential recruits for terrorism,” said Tom Fingar, deputy director of national intelligence for analysis. Fingar said the intelligence agencies have only low to moderate confidence in the assessment because climate data tend to focus broad global changes instead of specific countries.

Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and Central and Southeast Asia are most vulnerable to warming-related drought, flooding and hunger. The assessment warns of a global spillover from increased migration and water-related disputes, Fingar said in prepared remarks Wednesday to a joint hearing of a special US House of Representatives committee on global warming and a House Intelligence subcommittee.

Climate change alone would not topple governments, he said. But it could worsen problems such as poverty, disease, migration and hunger, creating conditions that could destabilize already vulnerable areas, Fingar said.
But he warned that efforts to reduce global warming by changing energy policies “may affect U.S. national security interests even more than the physical impacts of climate change itself.”

“The operative word there is 'may,’ we don't know,” Fingar said.

The assessment of global climate change through 2030 is one in a series of periodic intelligence reports that offer the consensus of top analysts at all 16 spy agencies on foreign policy, security and global economic issues.

Congress requested the report last year. The assessment is classified as confidential.

It predicts that the United States and most of its allies will have the means to cope with climate change economically. Unspecified “regional partners” could face severe problems.

Africa is seen as among the most vulnerable regions. An expected increase in droughts there could cut agricultural yields of rain-dependent crops by up to half over the next 12 years.

Parts of Asia's food crops are vulnerable to droughts and floods, with rice and grain crops potentially facing up to a 10 percent decline by 2025. As many as 50 million additional people could face hunger by 2020. The water supply, while larger because of melting glaciers, will be under pressure from a growing population and increased consumption. Between 120 million and 1.2 billion people in Asia “will continue to experience some water stress.”

Latin America may experience increased precipitation, possibly cutting tens of millions of people from the ranks of those in need of water. But from 7 million to 77 million people could be short of water resources because of population growth.

If allowed to we can make up for the 25% loss due to weather with the drought tolerant crops in the pipe line.

The crops being modifed for salt tolance could increase the farm land by 30%. It wouldn't the most productive land we have because the plant pay a hefty price for getting the salt out of the cytoplasm.

India and Pakistan pose the greater threat to world peace. Two hunger counties with atomic bombs and all those people could be a real big problem as we are commited to help Pakistan.

Hey Gordon, Chill!!! its not only INDIA and PAKISTAN..... if you see around the world there are many countries affecting the world peace. There has been a good relationship between INDIA and PAKISTAN since quiet a while now. From past many years there had been no firing on our BORDERS.... so how can you say that INDIA or PAKISTAN are affecting the world peace. I think we should not point out any individual country. Because this is a huge debatable point..... because there are big developed countries involved in affecting the world peace.

Vishal, When I read the first post, my firs reaction was, "Speak for yourself." Of course I realize that it had that provocative tone as a thread starter.

Individuals that know and care, want the info and tools to make a difference... and yet all people are given are tirred old panacaeas of 'reuse', 'recycle', 'conserve', 'repair'. I think we know these things are too little too late... So I shake my head, lift my hand in protest, and write my congressional representatives - often... and STILL come away feeling that it isn't enough...

For my bit I want to encourage everyone who will listen, to adopt a vegetarian diet... If you can cook well, share a meal with a neighbor - just out of local hospitality... Think globally, act locally. I Patronize local businesses that are 'green', or are organic, and encourage others to do so - you can really get the pulse of the local sentiment when you open your mouth this way.

I get a 50/50 response - either the ones who try to patronize locally but can't afford it all the time, or the 'Wal-Mart' groupies, that truly believe that 'lower-prices' are what life is all about, and really can't afford to have their SUVs and boats, and a lifestyle that revolves around what they can obtain, without the assistance of Chinese labor... you know, those that feel 'entitled' to have whatever they want...

So, yeah, there are plenty of clueless people, that are making the evolution of life on this planet an uphill battle, but it's what we have to deal with, so we'd better learn ways to deal with it! -short of war, or corruption.

I care for loads of reasons, so many I cannot remember them all in one sitting. So, here, I'll pick just one reason that I want to keep climate change and sustainability up front and on my mind...

OM Shanti

If the population of humans in the whole world were to decline all these problems would be solved. Less people less pollution, less cars on the roads, less garbage, ect.

Very well said, Michelle!!!
Yeah, if that can take place... I think the GLOBAL WARMING problem can be solved. But, I think this have gone out of control specially if you take an example of my country..... in my country unless some tough steps are not taken this cannot come under control.
BUT AN VERY GOOD SUGGESTION and an point on which all the government should think seriously.

All this talk about trying to get everybody to think Global Warming. and help be a part to slow it down. Ive come to the conclusion. This world will save itself. Humans dont really care , most dont care about themselves let alone the rest of the race. If is to be true about the comming planet through our solar system. That will do the job clensing everything. some will live, most will perish. few others will go underground to live out the cycle. The human race will learn the lesson and probably the hard way. Moral of the story. Enjoy every moment , what you see before you may change within a blink.

Hey Chris, Moral of the story is seriously appreciated. But don't you really think that some thing have to be done??

Yes my friend many , many ,many things need to be done. But whilst the world is governed by power, greed and money the force is against us. Most are conciously changing but seems everyone is doing it individually. People need a jolt before they realise. G8 example. America arnt even adressing it until china and Inda do. Its a waiting game till it smacks them in the face.
